Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also means he has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
